Southern Plains Inter-Tribal Epidemiology Center:
Nurses as Researchers Project
This project utilizes a training model for nurses working in a rural Indian hospital as researchers, conducting projects within their institution to advance the understanding of 1) nursing care processes, and the impact of innovation on the quality of patient care, 2) the challenges that affect the conduct of research related to the quality of nursing care, and 3) the facilitators and barriers to the successful adoption of research findings to improve nursing care in a rural health care system. This project develops opportunities for nurses of varying professional levels to conduct research specific to their level of need, area of expertise and experience within their hospital, hereafter referred to as nurse-initiated research projects.
